D.C. Douglas Joins Disney’s Vampirina: Teenage Vampire as the Speaker of Books

Actor and voice actor D.C. Douglas has joined the second season of Disney’s live-action musical fantasy series Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, appearing in two episodes as the mysterious Speaker of Books, a keeper of ancient vampire lore. Having spent decades portraying villains, androids, warriors, and other individuals of questionable temperament, Douglas now finds himself responsible for supernatural knowledge. Apparently, somebody at Disney decided the man who once threatened global saturation should be trusted with the library.

The six-episode second season premiered October 6, 2026, on Disney Channel and became available October 7 on Disney+. Douglas appears in the season premiere and finale, providing an appropriately authoritative presence in a storyline involving forbidden romance, ancient prophecies, and supernatural forces that have apparently never considered leaving teenagers alone.

What Is Vampirina: Teenage Vampire About?

Based on the popular Vampirina Ballerina children’s books by Anne Marie Pace and the Disney Junior animated series, Vampirina: Teenage Vampire reimagines its title character as a teenage vampire attending a human performing arts boarding school.

Kenzi Richardson stars as Vampirina “Vee” Hauntley, who leaves Transylvania to pursue her musical ambitions at Wilson Hall while concealing her supernatural identity. Her classmates include Sophie, played by Jiwon Lee; Elijah Van Helsing, played by Shaun Dixon; and Britney, played by Faith Hedley. Milo Maharlika portrays Demi, a 600-year-old ghost whose continued involvement in teenage affairs raises several administrative questions (particularly regarding his eligibility for student discounts).

Season two picks up after Vee accidentally releases creatures from the mirror realm. As the students return to school, they confront a prophecy declaring that Vee and Elijah, whose family has a long history of hunting vampires, can never be together. The season also introduces Jodie Sweetin as the Sorcerer Queen and Ava Jean as Hazel, a sorcerer operating undercover.

According to Disney’s official second-season announcement, the series continues to combine original music, supernatural comedy, friendship, and romantic complications. It is a perfectly ordinary boarding-school experience, provided the school’s emergency procedures include zombie attacks.

Who Does D.C. Douglas Play?

The Speaker of Books and the Ancient Prophecy

Douglas portrays the Speaker of Books, a figure associated with ancient vampire lore. The character arrives during a season in which long-established supernatural rules threaten Vee’s future with Elijah. Although the character’s title suggests considerable knowledge and authority, publicly available character descriptions reveal little about his personal history or the precise limits of his abilities.

Douglas is credited in two second-season episodes:

  • Season 2, Episode 1: “Second to Breathe”. The season opener reveals a prophecy concerning a vampire and a Van Helsing. As Hazel arrives at Wilson Hall with a hidden supernatural agenda, Vee receives an unexpected opportunity and the larger conflict begins to unfold.
  • Season 2, Episode 6: “The Last Second”. The season finale brings Vee and Elijah face-to-face with the prophecy as a new supernatural threat emerges following a zombie attack. Douglas returns as the Speaker of Books for the concluding episode.

Placing a keeper of ancient lore in the premiere and finale gives the role a natural connection to the season’s central mystery. In a series where centuries-old supernatural laws collide with teenage feelings, someone needs to represent the older, less forgiving world. Preferably someone who sounds as though he has read the instructions.

From Resident Evil to Disney’s Supernatural Universe

For audiences familiar with Douglas’s extensive voice acting career, the casting offers an entertaining change of surroundings.

Douglas is best known to video game fans as Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil franchise, the sophisticated and profoundly unpleasant antagonist whose ambitions extend considerably beyond ordinary corporate management. He also portrayed Legion in Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, Rayvis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and Yoshikage Kira in the anime JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable.

More recently, Douglas appeared as the medical droid M-3VO in Star Wars: Zero Company, adding another science-fiction personality to a career already crowded with dangerous artificial intelligences and morally compromised authority figures.

His on-camera credits include Star Trek: Enterprise, Z Nation, CSI: Vegas, and The Young and the Restless. Across more than four decades in entertainment, Douglas has moved between film, television, animation, anime, and video games, apparently determined to occupy every available casting category before anyone notices.

A broader selection of those performances appears on his official acting and voice-over credits page.

Why the Speaker of Books Is an Interesting Casting Choice

Musical fantasy presents a particular challenge for actors playing supernatural authority figures. Exposition must establish rules, history, and danger without interrupting the comedy or slowing the story’s musical momentum. A character associated with ancient vampire knowledge needs immediate credibility, especially when the surrounding cast spends much of its time navigating school friendships and romantic misunderstandings.

Douglas’s established work as Wesker, Legion, and Kira demonstrates his experience with controlled, intelligent characters whose authority depends as much on vocal precision as physical action. That background makes him a logical choice for a role built around supernatural knowledge. In family-oriented fantasy, a convincing authoritative presence can make an imaginary prophecy feel consequential without overwhelming the younger cast or the show’s lighter tone.

It also offers a pleasing contrast with his darker material. The actor who has threatened humanity in Resident Evil now inhabits a Disney universe where the fate of young love is a major supernatural crisis. (Umbrella Corporation would have outsourced the entire matter to Human Resources and then destroyed the building.)

Where to Watch D.C. Douglas in Vampirina

Both episodes featuring D.C. Douglas as the Speaker of Books are part of the second season of Vampirina: Teenage Vampire, now streaming on Disney+ alongside the show’s first season.

The series is available through Disney+ on its official series page.

Somewhere inside the supernatural archives, ancient vampire history has survived centuries of conflict, secret societies, forbidden relationships, and the occasional catastrophic prophecy. Then D.C. Douglas arrived to speak for the books. One hopes the manuscripts appreciate the distinction. Most ancient documents would consider themselves fortunate to survive a thousand years without being voiced by Albert Wesker.
