Lysandre Returns to Pokémon Masters EX, and Nobody Consulted Me

Starting October 6, 2026, a brand new version of Lysandre arrives in Pokémon Masters EX, and D.C. Douglas voices him again. The sync pair is called Sygna Suit Lysandre (Alt.) & Chi-Yu, and D.C. recorded the new voiceover earlier this year while the rest of us were busy losing arguments with self-checkout machines. (One of those machines still owes me a banana.) Developer DeNA revealed the pair on September 27 in a message from general producer Tetsuya Iguchi.

For the uninitiated, Lysandre runs Team Flare in Pokémon X and Y. He is a man of enormous ambition and excellent tailoring who wants to make the world beautiful by removing most of the people in it. D.C. has voiced him in Pokémon Masters EX since the character first joined the game, and this marks Lysandre’s third sync pair there. He teamed with Yveltal in 2021, with Volcanion in a red Sygna Suit in 2023, and now with Chi-Yu. That adds up to three Legendary or Mythical partners in about five years. I have owned the same toaster for eleven. (It has never once helped me conquer anything.)

What the New Lysandre Actually Does

Fire, Speed, and Very Poor Manners

Sygna Suit Lysandre (Alt.) & Chi-Yu are a Fire-type Field sync pair with the Sprint EX Role. The first time they enter a battle, they Sync Terastallize into Fire type, speed up their team’s move gauge, raise their Sp. Atk by six stat ranks, and raise their critical-hit rate by three. Most of us need two coffees just to raise our eyelids by one rank. (I have measured.)

Their Buddy Move, Firescourge Inferno, hits every opponent, never misses, burns the target, and knocks one random stat down by four ranks. If they still have Sunny Day available, the same attack turns the weather sunny, shortens their sync move countdown, and boosts the Sync Move ↑ Next effect of every ally by ten ranks. In plain terms, Lysandre sets the room on fire and then improves everyone else’s performance review. Teams that build around sync moves will want him badly.

The Treasures of Ruin, Served Weekly

The new pair debuts inside a four-part story event built around the Treasures of Ruin, four Legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Ghetsis and Chien-Pao open things on September 29. Lysandre and Chi-Yu follow on October 6. Wo-Chien takes October 13, Ting-Lu takes October 20, and players who clear every special battle unlock an epilogue that same day. DeNA has scheduled four ancient calamities like a magazine subscription. (Mine still arrives addressed to a man named Glen.)

Both villain pairs are EX Fair-Exclusive, which means players can only recruit them through limited-time scouts. The developers also note that dates and details may shift, so check the in-game news before you rearrange your entire week around a Legendary Pokémon shaped like a flaming goldfish.

A Brief Complaint About Talent

The voice acting industry loves to pour a handful of performers into a dozen interchangeable villains and call it range. D.C. keeps landing characters people actually remember: Albert Wesker across nine Resident Evil games, Legion in Mass Effect, Yoshikage Kira in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and now a Kalos tycoon with a burning fish. Every version of Lysandre in Pokémon Masters EX even carries special lines that play when he shares a team with certain Trainers. The consistency is frankly exhausting to witness.

So on October 6, open the app, find the man in the sharp suit, and listen when he speaks. That calm, patient voice promising you a more beautiful world belongs to D.C. Douglas, who recorded it months ago and then, as far as anyone can tell, went right back to looking for a parking space.
