D.C. Douglas Coming to Apple TV+’s WondLa

Apple TV+ is set to enchant audiences with the premiere of “WondLa,” an animated series based on Tony DiTerlizzi’s New York Times bestselling book series, “The Search for WondLa.” The series is scheduled to launch globally on June 28, 2024, and features a star-studded cast that brings the richly imagined world of Orbona to life.

Joining the voice cast is D.C. Douglas, a veteran actor renowned for his work in “Transformers: Rescue Bots,” “Regular Show,” “FriendZSpace,” and “The Rocketeer.” Douglas will voice Omnipod, a crucial character who is a sentient handheld device provided to every human at the age of six in the show’s futuristic setting.

The series centers around the character of Eva, voiced by Jeanine Mason, best known for her role in “Roswell, New Mexico.” Eva is a curious and resilient teenager raised in a state-of-the-art underground bunker by her robot caretaker, Muthr. Here she meets Otto, an endearing giant waterbear with telepathic abilities, voiced by Emmy Award winner Brad Garrett, known for his iconic role in “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

Accompanying them on their journey is Rovender, a cantankerous alien with a troubled past. Rovender is brought to life by Gary Anthony Williams, recognized for his voice work in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

The series also features Chiké Okonkwo, who voices Besteel, the formidable hunter of Orbona. Okonkwo’s previous roles include powerful performances in “The Birth of a Nation” and “La Brea.” Alan Tudyk, an Emmy Award nominee from “Resident Alien,” joins the cast as Cadmus Pryde, the founder of the Dynastes Corporation, adding a complex layer to the ensemble with his character’s mysterious motives.

WondLa” is executive produced by Tony DiTerlizzi and Bobs Gannaway, alongside a skilled production team including Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s leaders John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg. The series promises to be a captivating mix of adventure and discovery, exploring themes of identity and belonging in a visually stunning animated format.
